What is Arthroscopic Spine Surgery?Arthroscopic spine surgery is a type of surgery that examines and treats damage to the interior of a joint. The surgery is considered to be minimally invasive and involves the use of an arthroscope, which is a specific type of endoscope that is placed inside the joint after an incision is made. The tools used in the surgery are actually smaller than most conventional surgical tools. As with all endoscopic procedures, arthroscopic spine surgery lets the surgeons view the inside of the joint area on a monitor. This helps the surgeons to better diagnose the problem and possibly treat it. Some treatments might be relatively easy, such as to repair the torn joint tissue. This type of spine surgery could be a major relief to patients suffering from joint pain.
