What Is Endoscopic Spine Surgery?Endoscopic spine surgery involves the use of an instrument called an endoscope, which is used to look inside the body. An endoscopic procedure may be ordered so that a doctor can assess the interior surfaces of various organs. The endoscope, which could be a rigid or flexible tune, is inserted into the body. This allows the doctor to display the interior on a monitor so that a team can investigate and photograph the area. However, an endoscope may also be used to take biopsies and retrieve any foreign object. This type of surgery is described as “minimally invasive.” Endoscopic spine surgery may be required in order to treat disorders of the spinal discs, but without the need for major surgery.
