What is Spinal Stenosis?Spinal stenosis is a condition in which the spinal canal is constantly narrowing. The spinal canal is located inside of your vertebrae—the bones of your spine. When this canal gets smaller in size, it puts pressure on the actual spinal cord, which is a mass of nerves running from your brain to every area of your body. When spinal stenosis is centered in the bottom portion of the spinal cord, it is known as a lumbar spinal stenosis. In the upper sections, it is called a cervical spinal stenosis. When you experience this type of medical situation, you will likely experience pain throughout your body, stemming from the middle of your back. Since the nerves in your spinal cord are so sensitive, they will be affected the most.
